We’re back from Newport Beach, and we’ve got plenty to talk about.

We’re back from the Newport Beach event, and I’m busy following up with those who attended, answering questions, and helping everyone get clear on what “next steps” look like.

I know we say we’re in the business of dental sleep medicine, but actually, we are in the business of helping dentists make their dreams come true.

It doesn’t matter what your dream is, the time freedom, financial freedom, and scalable nature of sleep can help you create it. With sleep, you actually get to CHOOSE your future, not have it chosen FOR you.

This week, let me introduce you to Dr. Jay Neuhaus from SLEEPWELL ORTHOTICS in NYC. He’s been one of our members since 2015. What was his dream when he arrived? Semi-retirement. And also the end to dreading Sundays like he did for years.

Here’s his story in his own words:

Call it midlife crisis, burnout, or simply realizing that I just turned 60 and no longer enjoyed waking up every weekday morning to go to work. It was feeling harder and harder every morning.

In 2015 I went to a weekend Blueprint in Vegas. In the middle of that weekend, I called my wife, Janet, asking for her opinion on investing in a group that promised an alternative to the doldrums of dentistry. Janet was surprised by the tone of my voice. According to her, she hadn’t heard me be this upbeat and excited since I first met her in Las Vegas many years before.

We joined, and I do mean we. Janet was afraid that the meetings would be boring, having to listen and to socialize with random dental nerds. But she was wrong. We’ve since attended almost every quarterly retreat, fabulous resorts throughout the United States. We even took a cruise to Mexico. That was fun.

I currently see patients in-person only two days a month. Yes, two days a month, not a week.

Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t all fun and games. It took lots of hours every week to overcome obstacles along the way. But with the readily available daily support from the team and from fellow members, I was able to increase my sleep appliance numbers over 200 times in just two years.

I was finally able to sell my dental practice in 2018 and continued to concentrate solely on sleep. I no longer dreaded Sunday evenings. In fact, I no longer go to work. When you truly love what you do, it’s not work anymore.

It was like I was reborn. Helping as many people as I could to live healthier and longer lives is so rewarding and so fulfilling. And not having to lift a drill anymore was just the icing on the
cake…

In November 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, we purchased a beautiful home in Janet’s hometown, Westerville, Ohio. Thanks to IAOS and the wonders of telemedicine, we’re able to split our time between The Big Apple and The Buckeye State. She handles the phone remotely, wherever she is. And I currently see patients in-person only two days a month. Yes,
two days a month, not a week.

I rent two operatories two days a month. And other than my beautiful and very supportive wife, Janet, my only other payroll is one chairside assistant that gets paid for only two days a month. With this extremely low overhead, we’re able to help approximately 15 to 20 patients a month at an average net of $4,000 an appliance. That’s not too shabby as semi-retirement income. Just imagine what you can accomplish if you join IAOS at a younger age and pursue it full-time. Join now and never have to work another day in your life.

If Jay’s story gets you dreaming about what might be possible for you, then reserve your spot for an upcoming Dental Sleep Blueprint event and get the details you need to find out.
