As I write this, I’m headed to Boston for our Dental Sleep Blueprint event.
(Chicago is next coming up in June!) By the time you read it, the event will be over and I’ll be back in the office reaching out to dentists deciding what is the next best step for them in sleep.
It’s a pretty exciting time in dental sleep medicine. It’s not a static industry. It is growing, changing, transforming. And the bar is always going up. This isn’t a bad thing, this is an opportunity.
For example, we just opened enrollment for the new Restfull Expansion Course with Dr. Zubad Newaz. He is teaching a three-day, clinical intensive about Expansion this summer. You can get all of the details here. (FYI: no prior sleep or airway experience is required to do this.)
Expansion is about treating the structural airway problems that no oral appliance will ever address. When you bill it correctly (which Restfull does), you’re looking at about $18,000 per case.
Your average dentist is going to look at this and feel resistance. It requires new clinical skills, it requires a new kind of thinking, it requires stepping out of your comfort zone to be able to provide this new level of care to your patients.
Why would a dentist invest the time, effort, and expense to learn this?
Mainly because dentists care about their patients. And right now, while oral appliances are saving lives, a good portion of patients need something more. We know dentists always talk about how MDs are myopically focused on treating symptoms. Well… Expansion is about dealing with the SOURCE of symptoms.
I know you can find a lot of articles out there about how success in dentistry is getting harder to achieve. While that might be true for a traditional dentist trying to thrive in the old model, the amount of opportunity in Sleep and now Expansion is growing.
But it all starts with the type of life you want to live. What are the dreams you have for your career? Are you on track to reach them? Or is now the time to open your mind to a new route to making those dreams real?
