Each week, I get to speak with a steady stream of dentists who’ve heard about the work we’re doing at Restfull.
There are several different “personality” types I’ve witnessed:
There’s “Skeptical Sam,” who can’t possibly believe anything that sounds and looks good could actually BE good.
There’s “Time is Not Right Tim” who never seems to be able to make a decision about much because…well… the time isn’t right!
And then there’s the type of dentist I call “Million Questions Mike.”
Mike is smart and focused and a quick learner. What Mike ISN’T, however, is a doer. He’s got another approach to moving through life. His approach is to ask questions.
From the outside in, the dental sleep medicine business done CORRECTLY is pretty complicated. So questions are warranted.
But Mike has a TON of questions. And they never stop. If you offer to answer 10 questions for Mike, he’ll take those, if you offer to answer 100, he’ll take those too. And should you say, “Mike, I will make sure all of your questions get answered,” then watch out! You’ve just signed yourself up for a new full time job.
The sad part about Mike is that all those questions don’t lead anywhere. It’s a survival tactic he uses to make sure he never has to take real responsibility for DOING SOMETHING.
How do I know this?
Because the more questions you answer for Mike, the more questions he has. It’s not about getting real answers, it’s simply about stalling long enough until he gets the guts to say “it’s not for me.”
The real issue here is fear. Some dentists, like our friend Mike, are completely paralyzed by it. Fear of messing up. Fear of making another mistake. Fear of losing even MORE money.
These guys are scared and there’s not much anyone can do to change that. The only person who can deal with THAT is Mike himself.
Until then, he’ll watch as good opportunities fly by him.
It’s hard to be a dentist. If you’re just getting out of dental school now, your chances of real success like dentists used to have are very low.
If you’re trying to retire by selling your practice in the next 10 years, you’re going to have a tough time.
You might LOVE being a dentist, but the facts show that the BUSINESS of dentistry is in a rough spot.
Take control. Be your own boss. Direct your own future. Level up and play a bigger and more profitable game.
That’s what we help dentists do at Restfull.
Our next Dental Sleep Blueprint events are coming in June, July/August and September. First we’ll be in Chicago, then Denver, then Baltimore.
We have listened to the suggestions to have some courses be Thursday/Friday and some Friday/Saturday, so take advantage of the difference by selecting an event that works best for YOUR schedule!
Make your reservation now to get the details about how to succeed in dental sleep medicine the way we teach it. It is unlike anything else available to dentists.
