It wasn’t all that long ago that marketing was thought to be an activity well below the pedigree of any self-respecting dentist.
“Advertise? You’ve got to be kidding! We don’t do that. We’re ‘professionals.'”
Look around today and you’ll see that dentists everywhere have given up that dead end thinking, primarily because it’s a one way ticket to business disaster.
Unfortunately, this is just one small example of the many ways dentists have been screwed over the years by bad strategy that’s infected the industry and all of the dental schools.
Most practice owners think they own a business. Isn’t that obvious? It’s your practice, so you own a business right?
What you really own is a job. You’re not a CEO, you’re self-employed. Being self-employed isn’t bad, but it can be frustrating to do that when you THINK you own a business.
Really, you just employ yourself. You do the work.
What about associates? Surely you can hire a bunch of them and grow your practice as big as you want, right? That sounds like a great plan until you meet with the reality of OVERHEAD in this business.
The overhead in dentistry makes it a poor vehicle for maximizing profit. That’s why everyone struggles so much. It’s not you, it’s the model. It’s not as bad as running a restaurant, but for some dentists, it’s getting close!
Dental sleep medicine is a business. You own it. It works for you. It works without you. It grows and prospers without you breaking your back.
It’s not a magic silver bullet though. It’s just a smarter model where your effort NOW pays you over and over again LATER.
That’s the polar opposite of dentistry with its work now, get paid now model.
Many dentists say dental sleep medicine is “risky.” But really, which path sounds more risky to you?
A path where you actually HAVE TO WORK to keep the money flowing or one where you build an asset that can create money when you DON’T want to work?
Our next Dental Sleep Medicine Blueprint event is July 31-August 1 in Denver. We’ll be in Baltimore September 10-11. After that it’s Kansas City, MO, October 8-9. Come and see how this business works, how it’s built, how to run it successfully. THEN make a choice about the kind of future you want.
Dental sleep medicine is a path to freedom. Freedom comes when you have a situation where you don’t need to work for money. What would you do with your life then? Can you let yourself dream about that?
No matter what your dream is, know that there is a future that’s available to you in sleep.
